Yes, I know it's a self-indulgent headline, but my victories in any kind of poker set-up, nevermind a heads up battle, are so infrequent that I deemed it worthy of a 'breaking news' type title.
I still haven't quite got my head round it. I've checked on the forum, rung around a few of my close friends and even took a screen shot of the winning hand and yes, it really is true, the gallant Beagle won his first round match against fellow blondeite Nakor and is now through to the Last 16 - quite extraordinary!
But, seeing as though there are other people in the world apart from me, I shall of course report on the other mugs who progressed onto Round 2. Sigh...
With that in mind, here is the line up for the Last 16:

Ahem (straightens tie) - but back to business... You may notice another unexpected name in there. Yes indeedy, it's not a typo, tikay also somehow triumphed in his opening match (the recipient of the beating must now bow his/her head in shame) and is now up against GrannySmyth (aka bhoywonder), who will be intent on showing his elder how to play the wonderful game.
But being serious for a moment (just a brief moment), my personal picks, and the choices of many, are Zimbrahim (not sure why, never met the fellow, just have a feeling) and AndrewT (left), who from what I understand is a pretty handy online player. I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them make it through to the final, if they can get through me of course.
And for those of you out there who are obssessed with gambling, odds and whatnot, here is the current 'virtual' book for the remaining 16 players - good to see that I have correctly been placed high up on the list.
