It was announced this morning on the official Playtech website, that online gaming company Playtech have aquired control of the Tribecca network. The opening paragraph of the statement was as follows:
"Playtech (AIM: PTEC), the listed international designer, developer and licensor of software for the online and land-based gaming industry, is pleased to announce today that it has agreed to acquire certain assets and undertaking of Tribeca Tables Europe Limited ("Tribeca"). The acquisition is subject to the satisfaction of a number of conditions."
Although terms such as 'certain assets' can be construed as ambiguous, it is clear by the statement as a whole that 'in six months from the date of agreement' Tribeca will be no more and will cease operations under the Tribeca name.
Whilst many will fear this change and perhaps struggle to welcome the inevitable migration, I, for one, forsee the move as a positive step. As many of you are aware, although the aesthetics and 'look' of the Tribeca skins has accrued many fans, the software itself has its limitations in terms of modification and expansion. Therefore, the Playtech software will undoubtedly enable skins like blonde Poker League to move forward, thereby supplying an improved gaming experience to its customers.
Also, whilst Tribeca boasts a regular player count of in excess of 10,000, the Playtech network, which utilises skins such as Noble, Titan and USA Poker, will surely increase blondepoker's player liquidity, providing our clientele with an increase in opponents to which they can pit their wits against.
In closing, Avigur Zmora, Chief Executive Officer of Playtech commented: "This is a landmark deal for Playtech, which in one move, transforms the Company into the world's leading poker network that excludes US players. Tribeca is an outstanding fit for us and the company's licensees are operating, for the most part, in different geographical locations to Playtech's current poker licensees.
I assure you, these are exciting times for blonde Poker League.
