Flushy Starts Grand Prix As Underdog

In the Kingdom of the fish, James 'Royal Flush' Dempsey is King. He knows it, I know it, you know it, we all know it! - Flushy is a bonafide haddock. And to prove our claims beyond any element doubt, the Grand Prix sportbook for this weekend's Pot Limit Hold'Em Event rightly has Flushy cemented in as the tournament underdog.

At 251-1, Mr Dempsey is the rank outsider, and although he was once witnessed winning a hand when his primate opponent mucked his cards accidentally, this figure is spot on.

Don't worry though, not all odds are as accurate as this one, in fact, I reckon there's some good value in there. For example, at 250-1, the silent assassin, Nick 'vodkaredbull' Hicks, has to be worth a punt, especially after his 10th place finish in this year's London Poker Masters. Also worthy of note is Darshan 'Magic' Sami at a very reasonable 100-1. He's on his home turf and, as tikay often says, "has gears", so is very capable of keeping the title in the Midlands.

Of course, the usual suspects are at the top; Dave Colclough, Surinder Sunar and Marc Goodwin are the tournament faves at 50-1, whilst Alli Mallu, Stuart Fox, Paul Jackson and Ash Hussain, among others, are not too far behind at 66-1.

So, a tough field but plenty of value. If I had to offer one piece of advice though, it would be to resist the temptation to back a certain Beagle at 100-1. Overrated and a complete waste of money. As the Grange Hill kids used to say, "Just say no!"
