This past weekend a horde of blonde members headed West, paid £5.10 each to cross a bridge to get into Wales, and descended on Cardiff's Grosvenor Casino for bb5.

Festivities began on the Friday evening as Colchester Kev began what was to be a triumphant weekend by backing King Poker at 8-1 to win a Sit N Go, with 9 players left. Your correspondent laid the bet, dealt the SNG,  and watched in horror as King Poker out-drew his way to victory amidst much chirping from the winning tipster.

The next morning 40 'footballers' headed across Cardiff for the football competition. The standard of these events gets higher at each blonde bash, this time enlivened by the presence of a ladies team with Robert 'Florence' HM cutting a fine figure in goal. Despite a major shock midway through the group stages with the inthebelly team losing to the ladies, in the final the inthebellies defeated the Welsh team 5-4 continuing their Champions record in the event.

107 runners sat down for the main event of the weekend, the £55 double chance freezeout which saw blonde's own Colchester Kev triumph for over £2,000 over a cosmopolitan final table including runner-up Londonpokergirl, Rookieitb, LittleMissC, Sky's Wormster and Jimmy Ahmed and a local player who had recently re-emerged from a long session in the tattoo parlour!

Over the course of a long, tiring and emotional night the blondes partied hard with SNG's, cash games, more SNGs, some drinking, some more drinking and then a few more SNGs on the agenda.

The next day, blinking slowly in the bright light, the blondes resurfaced for the lunchtime quiz ran by our resident "I am miles better than NewsmansEye" quizmaster Kinboshi. Despite a huge burden on mobile phone usage of Google and Google Maps, I yet again failed to triumph in a blonde quiz. Instead, that honour in a real "the world has gone upside down" moment went to London Poker girl and Matt Dale and their team. Matt strangely was both sober and quiet throughout the quiz.

With the weekend winding to a conclusion, the Heads Up competition saw tikay, Kinboshi , M3boy, RHM and Chilli luckbox their team to victory ahead of Colchester Kev's Team Lever whilst assorted blondes tried to synchronise their Roshambo techniques "One, two, oh hell do I show on three or after three?" being the frequent refrain from assorted areas.

It was a terrific weekend. Many thanks to Sean and team at the Grosvenor for their hard work for blonde this weekend.

We reconvene for bb6, sometime in 2008, somewhere! Watch this space.
